Gundersen Named to Danish Team for CHIO Aachen

Mikala Gundersen and Horses Unlimited’s Leonberg will represent Denmark at the World Equestrian Festival CHIO in Aachen, Germany, June 26-July 5.
   
Gunderson, a resident of Wellington, Fla., has been riding the Zweibrucker stallion since 2008 and has developed a solid relationship with him. They've scored a dozen top placings this year, including a win in the Grand Prix at the Palm Beach Dressage Derby CDI-W (Fla.), and a second-placed finish in the Grand Prix freestyle at the WEF Dressage Classic-CDI (Fla.).

Mikala Gundersen and Horses Unlimited’s Leonberg will represent Denmark at the World Equestrian Festival CHIO in Aachen, Germany, June 26-July 5.
   
Gunderson, a resident of Wellington, Fla., has been riding the Zweibrucker stallion since 2008 and has developed a solid relationship with him. They’ve scored a dozen top placings this year, including a win in the Grand Prix at the Palm Beach Dressage Derby CDI-W (Fla.), and a second-placed finish in the Grand Prix freestyle at the WEF Dressage Classic-CDI (Fla.).
   
Their strong showing at the CDI-O Rotterdam (Netherlands), in addition to their successful winter and spring season, won them a spot on the Danish team. They scored 73.95 percent to finish fifth with their Elvis Presley-themed freestyle and also claimed team bronze with the Danish team, earning 67.57 percent in the Grand Prix.
   
“We are absolutely thrilled,” said Anne Sparks, owner of Leonberg and Horses Unlimited. “Leonberg is finally reaching his potential. I knew from the first minute that I saw him that he was really a special horse, and I’m really glad that I put my faith in Mikala.”
