GORDON GRENVILLE SMITH

Gordon Grenville Smith, passionate foxhunter and entrepreneur, died on Sept. 21 of injuries sustained while foxhunting. He was 71.

Mr. Smith, Casanova, Va., graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture before going on to receive an MBA from the Wharton School (Pa.). He then served in the Army National Guard for four years as a paratrooper. Later, he owned and operated Smith Recreational Vehicles in Branchburg, N.J.

Gordon Grenville Smith, passionate foxhunter and entrepreneur, died on Sept. 21 of injuries sustained while foxhunting. He was 71.

Mr. Smith, Casanova, Va., graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture before going on to receive an MBA from the Wharton School (Pa.). Mr. Smith was a member of the National Sporting Library (Va.), the Virginia Foxhound Club, The Old Dominion Hounds (Va.) and the Warrenton Hunt (Va.). He was the former president of the Bull Run Hunt (Va.)
and served as the MFH for Amwell Valley Hounds in New Jersey for nine years.

Survivors include: a son, Gordon G. Smith, Jr.; a daughter, Elizabeth Alden Smith; a sister, Linda Stedman Montague; his fiancé, Judy Allen; and three grand-children.
