Oliver Townend is up and walking around at the hospital. His initial prognosis appeared to be good, although he may remain in the hospital tonight after his fall on cross-country off of Ashdale Cruise Master at the Rolex Kentucky CCI****.

Townend sustained a head injury, but it’s still unknown whether he lost consciousness when he fell. If was unconscious, according to Fédération Equestre Internationale rules, he will not be allowed to ride ODT Master Rose, who is currently placed seventh after cross-country.

“The initial prognosis is good and encouraging. All the emergency services here were fantastic—they looked after Oliver and the horse very well,” said British Equestrian Federation performance director Will Connell in a SportingLife.com article. “Everything was done superbly, and he is now being assessed.”
