George is a legendary coach and trainer of numerous Olympians, working from his Hunterdon in Pittstown, N.J. For almost 20 years, he’s been the U.S. Equestrian Team’s co-chef d’equipe for the show jumping team, overseeing the performances of riders all around the world. George won both the AHSA Medal and the ASPCA Maclay equitation championships in 1952, and he was a member of the 1960 Olympic show jumping team. He has been a Chronicle show jumping columnist since 1989 and was named one of the Chronicle’s “50 Most Influential Horsemen of the 20th Century” in 1999.
