Galloping Fall Leaves Cindy Burge On Life Support

     At approximately 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 24, Cindy Burge, an experienced rider and trainer from Spokane, Wash., was critically injured in a fall at The Event at Rebecca Farm, Kalispell, Mont. Burge, 41, was competing in open preliminary, division 2.
     Her horse, Lucky Stripe, galloped into a barley field between fences 16 and 17 and lost his footing, rolling on his rider.

     At approximately 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 24, Cindy Burge, an experienced rider and trainer from Spokane, Wash., was critically injured in a fall at The Event at Rebecca Farm, Kalispell, Mont. Burge, 41, was competing in open preliminary, division 2.
     Her horse, Lucky Stripe, galloped into a barley field between fences 16 and 17 and lost his footing, rolling on his rider.
     A paramedic nurse at the site administered immediate medical aid. The competition safety officer, Marty Boehme, and EMS staff arrived immediately to assess the situation and called the ALERT medivac helicopter. Within 22 minutes, Burge was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center. She has since been moved to a trauma unit in Missoula, Mont., for further evaluation and to be placed on life support.
     As of Tuesday, July 27, no specific information had been released on her injuries or condition.
     The competition veterinarian, Rich Sylvester, examined Lucky Stripe and found no apparent injuries.
