No one could beat Lucinda Fredericks’ score today in the second day of dressage at the Badminton CCI**** (England), but the United States’ Kim Severson (left) came close.  She and Winsome Adante sit 1 point behind Fredericks going into cross-country.

Gina Miles (below) also had a good test with McKinlaigh and stands in 26th place (48.0).  Many riders continued to be concerned about the hard footing.  A group asked that the last element of the Countryside Quarry be removed in an effort to eliminate at least one of repeated drops.  The Badminton staff is making every effort to improve the footing as much as possible.

Riders will make their decision about running cross-country or not by 8 a.m. Saturday morning.  Many are concerned about preserving their horses for the European Championships later this year.

“Honestly, I think that the going is pretty familiar with what you what you would get in the States,” said Severson.  “So I’m not having too much of a hard time with it. I think that this is the biggest course we have done in a long time.  There’s a lot to do out there, and this is certainly not about dressage.”
