Fox-Pitt Leads Burghley After Dressage, Severson In Second

Great Britain\'s William Fox-Pitt took over the lead after Friday\'s dressage aboard Ballincoola at the Burghley CCI**** (England) with a 42.2. But the United States\' Kim Severson is just 0.4 behind him with Winsome Adante.

This is Ballincoola\'s third time at Burghley. He retired on the steeplechase at the Badminton CCI**** (England) this spring because his heart was fibrillating.

Severson and "Dan" won the Rolex CCI**** this spring for the third time, finishing on their dressage score.

Australia\’s Andrew Nicholson stands in third with Lord Killinghurst (44.6) and yesterday\’s leader, Ruth Edge, moved down to fourth with Muschamp Impala (45.9).

Australian Phillip Dutton, who reside in West Grove, Pa., moved to 13th place with The Foreman and Buck Davidson, the only other American competing at Burghley this year, is in 45 with Private Treaty (69.1).

The speed and endurance tests start on Saturday at 10 am and the first horse starts cross-country around 11.
