The U.S. Equestrian Federation/Markel Young Horse Dressage selection trials finished in June, and officials at the USEF announced that four young horses will represent the United States at the FEI/WBFSH World Breeding Championship for Young Horses in Dressage in Verden, Germany, Aug. 3-6.
The two 5-year-olds are: Big Tyme, a Belgian Warmblood gelding (Saros—Elvira), owned and ridden by Marisa Festerling, of Newbury Park, Calif., and Unitas, a Dutch Warmblood gelding (Niagara—Nellyzora), owned and ridden by Teresa Butta-Stanton, of Glen Burnie, Md.
The two 6-year-olds are: Currency DC, an Oldenburg gelding (Clintino—Cinderella), owned by Tim Dutta, Inc., and ridden by Susan Dutta, of Wellington, Fla., and Brigadier, an Oldenburg gelding (Batido—Lady Deco), owned by Deena Smith and ridden by David Wightman, of Murrieta, Calif.

Currency DC and Dutta were the highest-placed U.S. competitors at Verden last year. In the 5-year-old championships, they qualified for the second round and finished in 11th.
Scott Hassler will accompany the four young horses as chef d’equipe. Hassler is also the USEF Young Horse Dressage Coach.
