The Federation Equestre Internationale headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, has been under new leadership since Sept. 14. That\’s when Jean-Claude Falciola, a Swiss native, took over as the new secretary general, succeeding Bo Helander.
Falciola, 62, studied engineering at the Swiss Institute of Technology and earned an MBA degree from Stanford University (Calif.). For the past 27 years, he\’s been a partner with the Egon Zehnder International, an international management-consulting firm specializing in the assessment and recruitment of business leaders.
According a statement from the FEI, “Falciola has held senior management roles throughout the world, including the Middle East, Finland and Russia, while managing a large range of professional relations at the most senior level in organizations. His wide business experience will add significantly to the administration of the FEI.”

Falciola is a recreational rider, but skiing has long been his main sporting interest.
“I am highly enthusiastic about this appointment and the task ahead,” said Falciola. “The FEI is an organization with enormous potential. It is a challenge I am eager to address.”
