FEI Investigates Secret Dressage Meeting

Princess Haya, the President of the Fédération Equestre Internationale, has asked Vice President Chris Hodson to look into the circumstances surrounding a meeting held between dressage officials and team representatives on Aug. 18.

The investigation began with interviews on Aug. 20 and will culminate in a final report when all facts have been established.  The matter involves a meeting on Aug. 18 at 1:30 a.m., between the technical delegate for dressage, the ground jury, the appeal committee, representatives of the Danish, German, Dutch and American teams, as well as the FEI executive director of sport and FEI director of dressage, held in the competitors’ briefing room at Sha Tin.

A second meeting was held following concerns raised by other teams on Aug. 19 at 10:00 a.m. This meeting included the technical delegate, ground jury, appeal committee and representatives of all teams.

Since this matter is currently under investigation, the FEI and its officials will not give further statements until the inquiry has been concluded.
