Fans who came out to watch the second running of the Mars Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill were treated to perfect fall weather for cross-country and show jumping, and an exciting finale that saw the top five competitors separated by less than a rail.
Sunday’s finish left New Zealand’s Tim Price on top with five-star debutante Coup De Coeur Dudevin, and the United States’ Tamie Smith on Danito, also a five-star debutante, in second. Great Britain’s Oliver Townend followed in third by just 0.1 penalty points on his first-timer As Is.
The event also hosted the USEF CCI3*-L National Championship and the USEA Young Event Horse—East Coast Championships.
