Organizers of the Fair Hill CCI*** in Elkton, Md., have decided to offer only a short-format CCI this fall. They had considered running both a CCI without steeplechase and a traditional CCI with steeplechase, but only 18 riders entered for the full CCI, while 65 riders chose the modified division.
Although the cross-country courses would have been the same for both divisions, the CCI with steeplechase required more preparation and more volunteers to run. “It was a matter of prepping and staffing the steeplechase course and getting the extra volunteers,” said Susan Cover, event secretary.
