The 2008 HSBC FEI World Eventing Final will take place in Deauville, France, Sept. 18-21. The Final will be the main attraction of the prestigious Les Rencontres Internationales des Disciplines Equestres event organized by the Amaury Sport Organization, renowned for managing major large-scale sporting events.
No Final was held in 2007. This year’s Final will introduce the Fédération Equestre Internationale’s new global eventing partner, HSBC, as the World Cup series title sponsor.
The 40 best riders from 17 qualifiers around the globe will gather for the Final at the magnificent Deauville-Clairefontaine racecourse. Currently, Clark Montgomery, who is originally from Texas but currently resides in England, is leading the rankings with 160 points over Oliver Townend of Great Britain and Heelan Tompkins of New Zealand.
Alex McLin, FEI Secretary General, commented “The 2008 HSBC FEI World Cup Eventing Final will be a showcase of the best the sport has to offer. The unprecedented partnership with HSBC is taking eventing to a new level globally and is opening it up to a wider audience. I am certain that with an organizer of A.S.O’s professionalism and with Deauville-Clairefontaine as the spectacular venue, we will be rewarded with an exceptional event.”
