Eventer Thaïs Meheust Dies At French Championship For Young Horses

Officials at the Fédération Française d’Equitation released a statement on Sept. 7 saying that French eventer Thaïs Meheust died on cross-country during the French Championship for Young Horses at Haras du Pin. She was competing Chaman Dumonteceau, a 7-year-old Selle Français gelding (Top Berlin Du Temple—Cocagne Des Pins, Narcos II), when the pair fell at fence 2.

Meheust, 22, competed at numerous youth championships at the pony, junior and young rider levels, taking team gold in 2011, 2016 and 2018. She’d competed to the four-star level and was recently a member of the French Nations Cup team at Houghton Hall (England) and Le Pin au Haras (France).
