Event Horse Chummin Dies On Course At Galway Downs

Event horse Chummin died while on course at the Galway Downs International Three-Day Event in Temecula, Calif., on Oct. 31.

Chummin, owned and ridden by Lisa Peecook, collapsed between fences 15 and 16 on the cross-country course of the CCI* without steeplechase.

A necropsy revealed pulmonary hemorrhage and edema, but the cause of the hemorrhage is unknown. Peecook was uninjured.

Chummin, a 7-year-old Thoroughbred gelding, won a preliminary horse trials at the Twin Rivers Spring Three-Day Event (Calif.) earlier this year and finished in the top 10 in his past six starts at the preliminary level.
