The Kentucky Equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center is teaming up with ViaGen to show off several equine athletes and their clones during the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.
Sapphire, a Holsteiner warmblood gelding by Liostro (with no relation to McLain Ward’s Sapphire), will be on display along with his clone, Saphir. Sapphire is owned and ridden by Mark Watring. He earned Pan American gold in 2003 and represented Puerto Rico at the Athens Olympic Games in 2004. Saphir was born in February of 2010.
In addition, Tailor Fit, a two-time AQHA World Racing Champion by Strawfly Special, will be on hand along with his clone, Pure Tailor Fit, who was born in May of 2009.

Both geldings were cloned with the hopes of gaining a breeding stallion out of these two top competitors.
All four horses will be available to the public for the entirety of the WEG, from Sept. 25-Oct. 10 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m at KESMARC in Versailles, Ky.
On Oct. 7, Mark Watring will be on site at KESMARC with Sapphire and Saphir to answer questions about the decision to clone as well as future plans for the foal. In addition, ViaGen will be at booth 202 in the outdoor tradeshow village to answer the public’s questions about cloning and how the technology promises to continue improving the industry.
