More About The Performers
Taylor Blauweiss, the first “Equestrian Idol” will pair up with Hillary Dobbs; Ki-Juan Minors, winning in 2008, will pair up with Teaghan James and Robert Orthwein; 2009 winner Jen White Kane will pair up with Diana Bricker and Jenna Wyatt; and the reining 2010 winner Brian Lookabill will pair up with Casey Hodges and Lou Galterio.

New this year, the performers represent the three disciplines competing at the highest levels of the equestrian sport in Wellington – dressage, polo and show jumping. The competition will be fierce for past performers, Dianna Bricker, Hillary Dobbs, and Casey Hodges, along with new performer, Teaghan James, representing the show jumping/hunter equestrian community.

Robert Orthwein is a three-goal polo player who competes at the International Polo Club Palm Beach and is based out of the Port Mayaca Polo Club in Okeechobee, FL. The Orthwein family has been playing polo for three generations and has been intimately involved in developing polo in south Florida. Robert will be sharing his unique talent of rapping – also known as emceeing -with the guests at the Equestrian Idol event.

Jenna Wyatt is a United States Dressage Federation (USDF) bronze, silver and gold medalist, currently competing at the Grand Prix level. She is also a singer/songwriter, host of “Dressage Under the Stars” and regularly sings the national Anthem at major sporting events, including the Winter Equestrian Festival and the International Polo Club while wintering in Wellington.

Quickly becoming a well known vocalist throughout the state of Florida, and self-described “Equestrian Enthusiast”, Lou Galterio will bring his love for Romantic Crooning and the “Sinatra-style” into the fold to vie for the top honor of 2011 Equestrian Idol. Lou was recently invited to sing with a new a cappella group for the Miami Dolphins called, the “Dolphins Voices” – the first vocal group to sing for an NFL team.

About The EQUUS Foundation, Inc.
The EQUUS Foundation was conceived by the passions of people with a common interest – the belief that horses have a markedly positive impact on our everyday lives. Whether it’s a therapeutic riding program, a leg of the Triple Crown, the excitement of a polo match, the grace and elegance of a dressage performance, the peaceful view of a herd of horses on a green expanse, a young rider clearing her first jump, or the thrill of a western rodeo; horses have a way of making us feel everything from excitement to joy to tranquility. No other animal can make us feel the breadth of emotions that our equine partners do.

The Foundation was established in August 2002 as an IRS tax-exempt 501(c)(3) charity to transform the way horses are treated and perceived in society and build a more compassionate America that values the magical and powerful bond we have with horses. The Foundation awards grants to horse and equestrian charities in three mission areas: charities that use the horse to benefit the public, promote the health and welfare of horses, and elevate the equestrian sport as a whole. The Foundation also provides a network for volunteer recruitment.

The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors representing a cross-section of the equestrian community, including supporters, participants and professionals. The Board includes: Jenny Belknap Kees, Chairman; Catherine Herman, Vice Chairman; Jane FitzGerald, Secretary/Treasurer; Lynn Coakley, President; David Distler, David Goodwin, Patricia Keenan, Frank Madden, Richard Mitchell DVM, Clea Newman Soderlund, Susan Weber and Visse Wedell.

Thanks to the generosity of its donors, The EQUUS Foundation helps thousands of people and horses each year. Over $1.5 million in grants has been awarded since the first awards in 2003. Donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. Contact The EQUUS Foundation, Inc. at (203) 259-1550; E-Mail: equus@equusfoundation.org, website: www.equusfoundation.org.
