In spite of intensive care and therapy over the last three days since the endurance competition on Aug. 21, the horse’s general condition deteriorated, and he began to lose kidney function. After consultation among the attending veterinarians, the owner and the owner’s husband (also a veterinarian), the decision was made that it was in the best interest of the horse to euthanize.
