Delaware State University postponed the decision to drop its women’s equestrian team for one year according to Whyy.org.

This could potentially prevent lawsuits against the team from progressing. A U.S. District Court judge in Wilmington is scheduled to hear arguments from attorneys for team members and recruit Melia Blakely on April 8, on their request for a preliminary injunction that would stop DSU from disbanding the team.

Attorneys for the school have informed the court of its decision and asked the court to cancel tomorrow’s hearing, arguing there is no case for a preliminary injunction now.

It appears Blakely’s lawsuit may be dropped completely. Blakely’s lawyer sent a letter informing the judge that Blakely has reached a settlement with DSU and is ready to dismiss the suit once that agreement is signed.
