(Livermore, CA) Oct. 15, 2013 — USDF gold medalist and 4th Level certified instructor Liz Britten Hendrix has signed with Alive Mediaworks for the publication of her stunningly illustrated children’s picture book, Angel & Evie -Catching a Unicorn.
This book tells the tale of a little girl who dreams of catching a unicorn and, in a charming twist of fate, a unicorn who dreams of enchanting a little girl. How the two find a friendship that is made to last delights the reader from beginning to end.
Liz’s characters are heartwarming, and her vibrantly colored illustrations draw the reader/listener into a wonderful world with unexpected surprises page after page.
The impetus for creating Angel & Evie — Catching a Unicorn was a reaction to a life changing disease. After 20 years of training horses and teaching riders Liz developed a facial neuralgia that made it painful to be outside for any extended periods of time. “I was unable to continue a full time career with horses. The slightest breeze caused pain that made it impossible for me to ride or teach,” says Liz.
This restriction reignited her lifelong love of art. The sketching and writing that followed started as an idea for a Christmas present for family and developed into a full length book and a second career. “It feels good to have something positive come out of an unpleasant time period in my life. I am hoping Angel & Evie — Catching a Unicorn.is the first in a long line of children’s books.”
