Robert Dover and FBW Kennedy won the Grand Prix for the freestyle (73.12%) and finished second in the Grand Prix freestyle (81.42%) at the Lingen CDI, Lingen, Germany, Aug. 5-8, the final Olympic prep for the U.S. dressage riders. Andreas Helgstrand of Denmark was second in the Grand Prix and then won the freestyle (81.45%). Lisa Wilcox, on her less-experienced Grand Prix mount Royal Diamond, was seventh (68.16%) and then 13th in the freestyle (68.05%). Leslie Morse and Tip Top were eighth in both the Grand Prix (68.12%) and the freestyle (73.20%); Guenter Seidel and Nikolaus were ninth (66.37%) and fifth (74.35%); and Emmy Adwers and PF Robinson finished 17th (63.50%) in the Grand Prix. Lisa Wilcox, who won the Grand Prix for the Special on Friday on her Olympic mount, Relevant, finished sixth in the Grand Prix Special (70.40%), which was won by Per Sangaard of Denmark on Zancor (72.76%%). Seidel and his Olympic team horse, Aragon, who finished second in the Grand Prix for the Special, was fourth in the Grand Prix Special (71.32%). Also in the Grand Prix Special, the alternate for the American dressage team, Steffen Peters on Floriano, finished ninth (68.80%), while Morse and Kingston were 14th (66.24%). Christy Baxter, assistant director of dressage for the U.S. Equestrian Federation, said today (Aug. 9) that no change has been made to the Olympic team line-up since Lingen. The four-member squad is: Debbie McDonald on Brentina, Dover on Kennedy, Seidel on Aragon, and Wilcox on Relevant. Peters is the first alternate on Floriano, and Morse is the second alternate on Kingston.
