Blumberg, the son of two artists, grew up in Europe and the United States. Although he earned a degree in art, he chose to become professional horse trainer for 18 years. During that period he never stopped sculpting, and eventually his artistic endeavors grew and he faced a choice between his two careers. In 2001 he closed his barn to devote his full time to sculpture.
