Kristine Byars uses bold color and interesting situations to create paintings that are more than photographic reproductions. Subjects have included horses, dogs, cats, rabbits, Longhorn cattle and even a horny toad.

Byars, an award-winning artist, works primarily in oils and oil pastels on canvas. Lovely Lainey is a 24″ x 30″ oil on canvas. She attributes her ability to work as an animal portrait artist to a combination of inherited talent, formal art education and a passion for creatures.

An avid equestrian, Byars enjoys pleasure riding, yet has experience in the hunter/jumper ring, foxhunting and even showing foxhounds.

She resides in Dallas, Texas, with her husband, Thoroughbred, Golden Retriever and two cats.
