Paddock Shadows By Dana Lee Thompson
Dana Lee Thompson lives and paints in the Virginia countryside near Casanova. She paints mainly in oils, capturing the personality and expression in all of her animal subjects.
Although she enjoys painting all things relating to nature, Thompson’s primary focuses are horses and hounds. “I just love hounds and the emotions that horses stir up in me,” she said.

She attends many horse and hound related events gathering reference with her camera for future paintings. She also foxhunts with the Casanova Hunt.
This week’s cover, Paddock Shadows, is an oil painting from Thompson’s private collection. She was inspired by the play of the horse’s shadow on the board fence.
Thompson’s paintings have been exhibited at the Museum of Hounds and Hunting, the AKC Museum of the Dog, and the Cross Gate Gallery/ MFHA traveling art shows, among many others.
