Bucket Boy By Dawn Marie Beckering

Artist Dawn Marie Beckering has had a passion for all things equine from an early age. Largely self-taught, Beckering has studied with Nancy Tilles in Wellington, Fla., and has attended workshops with James Crow, Booth Malone and Rosemary Sarah Welch at the American Academy of Equine Art in Lexington, Ky.

In Bucket Boy, an 18″ x 24″ oil on linen, Beckering captured her Thoroughbred jumper True Refinement at a relaxed moment in his stall in Florida.

“The painting of ‘True’ is among my favorite pieces, because he has been my best friend and also carried me around the De Nemethy ring at the Winter Equestrian Festival after I moved to Wellington from Michigan,” she said.

Working out of her studio in Aiken, S.C., Beckering also paints vignettes that she sees in the Aiken horse community.
