"There have been two things that are consistent in my life. My love of animals and my love to draw them," said artist Jill Silver. “There have been two things that are consistent in my life. My love of animals and my love to draw them,” said artist Jill Silver. “As a child I felt as though I had a special bond with all animalsthat we shared a special unspoken understanding. As an adult I feel this understanding is revealed in my work.”

Silver’s goal is to convey that feeling so the person seeing her art will feel it also. Silver attended The Ringling School of Art And Design (Fla.), where she studied fine art with a year of graphics and illustration.

After a break from art, she moved to Tryon, N.C., to start her career as an artist.

This week’s cover, Ollie And Orlin, depicts two Tryon hounds.

Silver works in either colored pencil or acrylic paint, and her style is very detail oriented with an emphasis on the eyes of her subjects.
