Wash Bishop Astride Ask Away By Radford Wine

Artist Radford Wine, Winchester, Va., has enjoyed a rewarding career in the visual arts. His work has been featured in magazines and news articles, he’s designed for numerous clientele including General Electric, Dupont Corporation, the National Park Service, and he’s painted a commissioned portrait of renowned actor Robert Duvall.

In his earlier years of commercial design, Wine was awarded honors from Print magazine. Some of his works are included within the corporate collections of the Toyota Corporation and the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation.
A multi-faceted painter, Wine is not content to paint in one style. Although the majority of his work consists of land and waterscapes rendered with a soft, impressionistic touch, he’s quite adept at a number of other genres.

This week’s cover, Wash Bishop Astride Ask Away, is an acrylic on panel of retired international event rider Wash Bishop. Aboard Ask Away, he won the 1993 Bromont CCI** (Canada) and the 1994
Rolex Kentucky advanced horse trials. The pair also placed second at the1995 Rolex Kentucky CCI***, and fifth at the 1994 Fair Hill CCI*** (Md.).

This year Wine has partnered with the U.S. Eventing Association and has two posters—a detail of Ask Away from this portrait—available through the USEA website (www.useventing.com). All proceeds from the sale of the posters will benefit the USEA.
