The love of horses is evident in Lila Blakeslee’s artwork. Her years as an equestrian, riding instructor and her exposure to polo prepared her for a dual career.

Blakeslee has her bachelor’s degree of fine arts in drawing and painting from the University of North Texas, and she moved to Florida in the early 1990s to pursue her career in art.

Fast And Clear

The love of horses is evident in Lila Blakeslee’s artwork. Her years as an equestrian, riding instructor and her exposure to polo prepared her for a dual career.

Blakeslee has her bachelor’s degree of fine arts in drawing and painting from the University of North Texas, and she moved to Florida in the early 1990s to pursue her career in art.

Blakeslee works in a variety of mediums, ranging from large acrylics to delicate charcoal drawings. Her artwork has been featured over the years on program covers for the Winter Equestrian Festival (Fla.) and polo clubs around the country.

Her original paintings are repre-sented by Vander Moore Designs during the WEF and in The Beresford Gallery during the Saratoga (N.Y.) racing season. In addition to her fine art, she has designed a collection of bedding, clothing and other items available at tack shops.

This week’s cover, Fast And Clear, is a 22″ x 28″ charcoal.

Blakeslee resides in Vero Beach, Fla., and works out of her home studio.
