Blue Ridge Spring Races by Linda Volrath

Artist Linda Volrath composed a classic steeplechase scene with a view of a historic manor house, an outrider and spectators on the hill watching the action. This 24" x 30" oil painting, Blue Ridge Spring Races, was selected for the program cover of the 2007 combined races of the Blue Ridge Hunt and the Rappahannock Hunt (Va.).

Blue Ridge Spring Races by Linda Volrath

Artist Linda Volrath composed a classic steeplechase scene with a view of a historic manor house, an outrider and spectators on the hill watching the action. This 24″ x 30″ oil painting, Blue Ridge Spring Races, was selected for the program cover of the 2007 combined races of the Blue Ridge Hunt and the Rappahannock Hunt (Va.).

Volrath’s paintings were also selected by Cross Gate Gallery, Lexington, Ky., for the MFHA’s 2007 Centennial Traveling Art Exhibition, which traveled to more than 20 locations, including New York City, Los Angeles, Denver and Toronto.

Volrath worked as an art director and illustrator for 15 years, during which time she studied with nationally renowned artists who were carefully selected for their oil painting techniques and styles. She has had gallery representation since 1994 and mounted her first solo exhibition in 1999. Her work is included in many private collections, and in the permanent collections of the National Presbyterian Church, Washington, D.C., and the Oatlands Historic Plantation, Leesburg, Va.

In 2005, Volrath received the Founder’s Award For Excellence In Painting from the American Academy of Equine Art at their Fall Juried Exhibition in Lexington, Ky.

Volrath is a native of Northern Virginia. She and her husband, also an artist, met while painting in New Mexico, and now reside in White Post, Va.
