Patricia Dunn Bowen crafted this bronze sculpture of Authentic as a gift for Elizabeth Busch Burke in celebration of Authentic’s team gold medal at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games with Beezie Madden. At the time of the Olympics, Burke co-owned Authentic as part of a syndicate. Details of the sculpture include Authentic’s number from the Olympics, as well as the USEF saddle pad.

Bowen uses her art to express her love of horses. In her youth, she showed gaited saddle horses, show ponies, parade horses, and show hunters. She and her late husband, Ed Bowen, raised and prepared Thoroughbreds for the Keeneland (Ky.) and Saratoga (N.Y.) sales.

Bowen, of Southbury, Conn., works in the lost-wax bronze process. Her sculptures have been awarded as trophies for the U.S. Eventing Association, the Washington (D.C.) International Horse Show, the Upperville Colt and Pony Show (Va.), and the Syracuse International Sporthorse Tournament (N.Y.).
