A week after Courtney Dye first began talking again, she continues to make great progress in her rehabilitation from a devastating head injury that left her in a coma.
“Just got back from a wonderful afternoon with Courtney. She is totally alert, funny, serious and inquisitive. She asked about her horses, her students and various irrelevant things,” reported Lendon Gray, her longtime trainer and mentor.
“We talked about the amazing support she has had from so many people around the world, and she had trouble believing this,” continued Gray.

Several fellow top dressage riders, including Steffen Peters and Debbie McDonald, have headed up fundraisers to help offset Dye’s medical expenses.
“She has to cover the trach hole in order to talk, but that should be closed soon,” wrote Gray.
