PERON DIES FROM ALLERGIC REACTION
Peron, the 15-year-old Trakehner stallion who led the U.S. dressage team to the bronze medal at the 1996 Olympics with Michelle Gibson, died on June 28. He cut a leg while being loaded on a van to go to the European Championships and reportedly suffered an immediate allergic reaction to a precautionary antibiotic that sent him into irreversible shock.
