Consensus Dies On Cross-Country At Ocala Winter I Horse Trials

The Equiventures Organizing Committee reported the death of Consensus, an 18-year-old Oldenburg gelding (Contucci—Miss Me Not, Count Brook) owned by Julie Norman and ridden by Adriana Beruvides at the Ocala Winter I Horse Trials in Ocala, Florida.

Consensus was competing in the open preliminary division, when he collapsed during the cross-country phase between fences 16 and 17 and died of natural causes. Beruvides was attended to on site and then was transferred to Ocala Regional Hospital for further care.

Norman and Consensus competed through the advanced level and contested the Rolex Kentucky CCI**** in 2014 and 2015. Beruvides, 18, began competing the gelding in 2016 and finished ninth in the Ocala CCI last April.
