Colorado Man Charged In Fire That Killed 12 Horses

A Colorado man was charged with arson in the case of a May 9 stable fire that killed 12 horses, according to TheDenverChannel.com. The fire also killed several chickens and a goat on the property.

Narciso Amaya-Bustillos, 36, is being held on charges of first-degree arson, criminal mischief and 13 counts of aggravated cruelty to animals. He’s due to appear in court today.

Narciso Amaya-Bustillos, 36, is being held on charges of first-degree arson, criminal mischief and 13 counts of aggravated cruelty to animals. He’s due to appear in court today.

Amaya-Bustillos was seen fleeing the property after the fire began. Additionally, he was hospitalized three days later with serious injuries obtained while starting the fire.

Owners and riders who lost their horses in the blaze have begun a monetary relief fund in order to rebuild a barn for the surviving horses. About 20 horses lived at the Commerce City, Colo., stable before the fire.
