West Palm Beach, FL (January 26, 2010) – Hilltop Farm’s Cabana Boy, and trainer Chris Hickey, won the Equilite 2010 Grooming & Conditioning Award during the Gold Coast Dressage Association Opener CDI, thanks to Cabana Boy’s sparkly coat and fantastic condition. Sponsored by Equilite, makers of award-winning herbal animal health products and supplement blends, Hickey and Cabana Boy were awarded a giant tote overflowing with Equilite products, including Equilite’s award-winning Sore No More®.

“Cabana Boy looked great today thanks to his groom Yvette LaRue,” Hickey said. “Yvette does a great job and takes pride in the way she cares for her horses.”

LaRue fondly calls Cabana Boy her “baby” and was thrilled that he took home Equilite’s top honors for his shiny coat. She said that part of his shine is due to “lots of currying.” Hickey added that Cabana Boy’s excellent condition is a result of turn out, a mid-day workout and a daily workout on a walking mill. “When he’s at Hilltop he hacks up and down the hills and that really helps,” Hickey said.

Cabana Boy’s sire, Contucci, a Hanoverian stallion who stands at Hilltop, was awarded the Dressage Sire of the Year title. Hilltop owner Jane MacElree was equally thrilled that Cabana Boy earned the grooming and conditioning award and also praised his groom. “Yvette does a fantastic job of turning out horses and they always sparkle,” MacElree said.
