Charlotte Fry And Glamourdale Take Decisive Lead In World Cup Final Grand Prix

Charlotte Fry and Glamourdale (Lord Leatherdale—Thuja, Negro) won the Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois FEI Dressage World Cup Final today in Basel, Switzerland, with a competitive lead of 77.15% in the Grand Prix. Her test put the British rider a safe distance ahead of second place, Isabell Werth of Germany, who earned a 74.84% on DSP Quantaz (Quaterback—Piroschka, Hohenstein 4). Norwegian rider Isabel Freese landed in third with Total Hope OLD (Totilas—Weihegold OLD, Blue Hors Don Schufro) on a score of 74.41%.

Of the U.S. riders, only one pair, Adrienne Lyle and Helix (Apache—Zeester T, Jazz), finished in the top 10 of the Grand Prix, placing ninth with a 72.56%. Her fellow U.S. competitors, Kevin Kohmann on Duenensee scored 69.13%, ranking 14th in the field,  and Genay Vaughn and Gino stood in 17th with 62.97%. All riders made the 60% cut-off to qualify for Saturday’s Grand Prix freestyle, which starts at 7:30 p.m. local time (1:30 p.m. Eastern Time).
