Chapin Suffers Fatal Fall At GMHA Horse Trials

Jennifer Chapin suffered a fatal accident on Aug. 11 in the cross-country warm-up at the GMHA Festival Of Eventing August Horse Trials in South Woodstock, Vermont.

Chapin, 32, Wenham, Massachusetts, was riding Joinem, a 12-year-old Thoroughbred gelding (Johar—Keemon, Goldneyev), when they had a rotational fall over a roll top.

Joinem was reported to be uninjured in the fall. Chapin was transported to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries.

Chapin was an amateur rider and began competing Joinem in June 2018. The pair had completed several preliminary horse trials together, including the Morven Park CCI2*-S (Virginia). Joinem had competed through intermediate with Aisling Carroll.
