Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida, will provide the opportunity for horse owners and enthusiasts to walk, canter or trot their horses across the South Florida track on Nov. 9 in its inaugural Canter for the Cause event.

Canter for the Cause will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a donation of $50 per trip benefiting the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance and Whispering Manes Therapeutic Riding Center. There will be three groups: Group 1, Arrogate (walk); Group 2, Gun Runner (walk/trot); and Group 3, City of Light (walk/trot/canter).

Canter for the Cause has been conducted for several years at Pimlico Race Course, home of the Preakness Stakes.

“This has been a very rewarding and special event put on by our friends at the Maryland Jockey Club at Pimlico, and we know it’s going to be a truly memorable event here at Gulfstream for all who participate and volunteer,” said Gulfstream vice president Bill Badgett.

“The TAA is honored to be one of the beneficiaries of this great event, and we’re thankful for Gulfstream Park’s continued support of Thoroughbred aftercare,” said Stacie Clark, operations consultant for Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance. “We encourage everyone in the area to come join us for a fun day of riding on the racetrack.”
