As the nation’s dressage enthusiasts prepare to gather in San Diego, CA for next week’s Adequan^(R)/USDF National Convention and Symposium, the host California Dressage Society will officially kick off activities to celebrate their 45th anniversary in 2012 by unveiling the winning design for a commemorative logo.

Designed by Kathleen Barrett of Newbury Park, CA, the elegant logo incorporates the classic look of the well-known CDS image, perfectly balanced with new colorful elements, to symbolize the Society’s historic milestone and view towards the future.  “The original horse-head chess piece is a well done and  iconic logo, and I added minimal embellishments to make it more festive for the CDS anniversary,” noted Barrett.  “It’s just good, clean design.”

The California Dressage Society, formed in 1967, is a non-profit organization devoted to furthering interest in dressage.  It one of the largest dressage organizations in the nation with more than 4,000 individual members in its 36 local chapters.  CDS President Peggy Klump notes that the new logo is just the first step in a year full of activities for the organization’s members to enjoy.  “We’re looking forward to a terrific year of celebrating dressage on the West Coast,” said Klump.  “This anniversary reminds us that CDS has such a rich history and we’re proud of the myriad of programs we currently offer for our members.  But at the same time, CDS looks to the future to find even better ways to serve the sport.”

CDS received 32 design submissions as part of the logo contest, with three finalists chosen to be displayed for public review and comment during last month’s 44th Annual CDS Championship Show presented by HorseShow.com in Rancho Murieta, CA.  Over 100 votes were received to determine the winning anniversary logo, which will be officially unveiled during a CDS welcome and “birthday” party on Wednesday, November 30 at the Adequan^(R)/USDF National Convention.  The logo will be featured in CDS publications and available for purchase on merchandise throughout the year.
