The Brandywine Valley Summer Series is pleased to announce that it will be returning for a second year to the Devon Show Grounds in Devon, PA, to host its top-notch annual hunter/jumper event. In 2011, the event was named the Pennsylvania Horse Show Association’s “Horse Show of the Year,” featuring the countries best hunter, jumper, and equitation horse and rider combinations competing for top honors during the two-week show. Scheduled for June 28-July 2, 2012 and July 4-July 8, 2012, this year’s additional highlights will include the $10,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby on Sunday, July 1, 2012, and week two’s designation as a WCHR Member Event.

Exhibitors are thrilled to return for the second annual Brandywine Valley Summer Series after such a successful leadoff year. Trainer Andre Dignelli said, “The part I love about Brandywine it is that it is a quality event. Everything there is just nice. The jumps were beautiful, they have great courses, and it was very exhibitor friendly. We loved having the opportunity to show at the Devon Show Grounds because it is a beautiful facility, and the management produced a lovely show.”

Last year’s Leading Hunter Rider was Sandy Ferrell, and she is very excited to defend the title in 2012. “I thought the shows were beautifully run, especially for the first time out,” noted Ferrell. “The show was certainly for the exhibitors 100% of the way. This year I hope to show in the open division and all the professional divisions, and my clients all do the adult and amateur divisions. Brandywine gives us a wonderful opportunity to truly appreciate the facility and to enjoy the show.”

The Leading Amateur-Owner Rider in 2011 was Bridget Hallman, who is excited to compete in the Dixon Oval once again. “There is no better ring to ride in than the ring at Devon,” she explained. “You feel so special going in there, and it’s also a wonderful opportunity for a young horses in there and getting used to seeing that ring. Being able to ride around that ring you just feel the tradition and for me I feel that is a great part of the horse show. The hospitality is also wonderful, and they do a great job keeping everybody happy.”

Meredith Lipke is another amateur rider who claimed a major victory in 2011, winning the $3,000 Johnson Horse Transportation USHJA National Hunter Derby aboard The Specialist. The duo led the class from start to finish, topping the class with a score of 357 for the winning prize. Lipke commented, “Brandywine was a phenomenal show last year. It was so well organized and the hospitality could not have been better. The courses rode nicely and the fences were beautiful. Everything was perfect, and I can’t wait to return to the Devon Show Grounds this year!”
