Top riders Boyd and Silva Martin welcomed a new baby boy to the family on Sunday, July 22. Silva delivered Leo Rossco Martin at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
“It’s been a tough pregnancy for Silva; the baby has had a blood deficiency, so she’s been enduring a number of blood transfusions to get to this point,” Boyd said. “We went in on Friday, and I was supposed to compete at a show up in New York, and at the last minute I had a feeling we were running out of time. So we had another ultrasound Sunday, and they said the baby was looking a bit anemic, so we’re probably better off delivering now.”

Leo weighed in at 4 lbs., 13.6 oz. Boyd brought the couple’s other son, 2-year-old Nox, to visit Silva and Leo in the hospital. Both mother and baby are healthy, but Silva will spend a few days recovering from a cesarean section, and the couple thinks Leo will be in the NICU for a couple of weeks.
