Axel Z, ridden by Belgium’s Chloé Raty, was euthanized on June 16 after a fall on cross-country at the Luhmühlen CCI**** (Germany).

The official statement from the event said the 11-year-old Zangersheide gelding (Asca Z—Odessa, Gastal) fell at fence 18B, an upright. “The horse received immediate veterinary attention and was transported to the veterinary clinic,” read the statement. “Unfortunately, spinal injuries were diagnosed, and Axel Z sadly could not be saved. The rider was taken to hospital for thorough examination, which revealed no injuries.”
