The U.S. Hunter Jumper Association Foundation has opened applications for two grants for youth competitors. The first is the $25,000 USHJA Foundation Hamel Scholarship for Further Education.

Current USHJA members who have been members for at least three consecutive years are eligible for the scholarship. Applicants must be accepted to a college, graduate, professional or trade school and be entering the 2018 fall semester as a freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, trade or graduate student. They should be ranked in the top 20 percent of their class or have a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. For those who are not currently or recently in school, the Foundation will consider an equivalent employment history. Interested applicants may access the application materials at ushjafoundation.org/HamelScholarship. Applications are due by May 15.

Another grant available to young USHJA members is the Gochman Family Grant for the USEF Pony Finals, which will take place Aug. 7-12 in Lexington, Kentucky. The grant recipient(s) will receive an opportunity to compete at Pony Finals. Up to three individuals may be selected each year.

Any current USHJA member under the age of 18 who has not previously participated in Pony Finals and who would not be able to attend without the assistance the grant provides is eligible to apply. Riders may apply online, using the applications materials available at ushjafoundation.org/gochmangrant. Completed applications are due to the USHJA Foundation on April 6, 2018. Individuals may only receive the grant once.
