American Gold Leaves Devon For Ohio

After 27 years at the historic Devon Horse Show grounds in Devon, Pa., the American Gold Cup will relocate to the Metro Parks Polo Field in Moreland Hills, Ohio, this September, pending date approval from the U.S. Equestrian Federation.

According to Gene Mische, president of Stadium Jumping Inc., the Gold Cup\'s management company, the event\'s relocation had been in development for several years. But he said he doesn\'t anticipate any changes to the class offerings.

After 27 years at the historic Devon Horse Show grounds in Devon, Pa., the American Gold Cup will relocate to the Metro Parks Polo Field in Moreland Hills, Ohio, this September, pending date approval from the U.S. Equestrian Federation.

According to Gene Mische, president of Stadium Jumping Inc., the Gold Cup\’s management company, the event\’s relocation had been in development for several years. But he said he doesn\’t anticipate any changes to the class offerings.

Mische noted that this site was the original home of the American Gold Cup at its inception in 1970, after which the show traveled to Tampa, Fla., for two years before moving north to Philadelphia for seven years, finally settling in Devon\’s Dixon Oval in 1980. The new venue boasts a recently constructed 200\’ x 300\’ ring with sand and textile footing, underground drainage, and a computerized watering system.
