AgriLabs Introduces Colostrx Multi Species for Foals
St. Joseph, MO (April 9, 2010)… AgriLabs today announced the launch of Colostrx® Multi Species for use in newborn and nursing foals.
Foals need quality colostrum to reduce health problems at the beginning of life. Colostrum is high in energy, protein, vitamins, minerals and is a critical source of the immunoglobulin needed in the first few hours after birth to protect against early exposure to disease.
“Unfortunately not all maternal colostrum contains protective immunoglobulin levels,” reports Dr. Joel Ehrenzweig, AgriLabs Technical Services Manager. “With significant variability between each mare’s colostrum, relying solely on maternal colostrum can produce a false sense of security.”
Failure of passive transfer (FPT) will occur if the maternal colostrum is:
• of poor in quality (not enough IgG to be protective)
• of insufficient in quantity
• contaminated
• unavailable
• fed late

“Newborn foals with FPT are more likely to be weak, sicken or die,” he continued. “While high quality maternal colostrum is the ‘gold standard’ we hope for, feeding Colostrx Multi Species increases IgG levels to newborn foals and is an assured, effective, and convenient alternative for preventing FPT”, suggested Dr. Ehrenzweig.
Colostrx brand is the longest standing and most trusted name in colostrum replacement and supplement products and is now available as Colostrx Multi Species for use when:
• reliable, high-quality colostrum is unavailable
• enough colostrum is not produced
• feeding a large foal
• foal is orphaned
• disease could be transmitted from mare to baby
• colostrum is contaminated
• foal needs additional globulin protein support
• stressful birth
• feeding runts
With a guaranteed level of 20 grams of Globulin Protein/bag, Colostrx Multi Species is designed to meet the colostrum needs of foals, kids, lambs, fawns, puppies, alpacas, llamas, kittens and calves. It is now available from AgriLabs distributors and their dealers.
