She’s not even close to aging out of the junior ranks, but Addison Philips, 15, doesn’t have much left to win in them. At Devon, she rode Double H Farm’s Socrates to win every class over fences and take the grand junior hunter championship, picking up the large junior, 15 & under title on the way. She also guided Cantus Anuberth to the junior jumper championship, and Flight to the reserve title. Junior weekend at Devon, in Devon, Pa., concluded on May 28.
In the older divisions of the junior hunters, repeat performances ruled the day. Brianne Goutal rode last year’s large junior, 16-17 champions, Navigator, to reapeat his title. Megan Young rode Navigator last year. And Double Cinco, last year’s grand junior huntr champion, won the handy class and an over fences class, then placed third in the stake class for the small junior, 16-17 tricolor with Lexy Reed. A win the stake class paid off for Nicoletta von Heidegger, who claimed the small junior, 15 & under tricolor with Breckenridge.
