U.S. Equestrian Federation officials have announced the 10-member short list named for the show jumping team at the World Equestrian Games, which will be held in August in Aachen, Germany.
The top six finishers in the WEG Selection Trials, held March 21-25 in Florida, were automatically named to the list, joining McLain Ward and Beezie Madden, who’d been named prior to the trials and didn’t have to compete. USEF selectors Lisa Jacquin, Michael Endicott and Eric Hasbrouck joined forces with chef d’equipe George Morris to name Molly Ashe, on Neuville, and Jeffery Welles, on Armani, to complete the list, since they placed seventh and eighth in the trials.
The complete WEG show jumping short list is:
Rider/Horse
1. Margie Engle/Quervo Gold
2. Margie Engle/Hidden Creek’s Wapino
3. Laura Kraut/Miss Independent
4. Lauren Hough/Casadora
5. Candice King/Tarco
6. Christine McCrea/Promised Land
7. McLain Ward/Sapphire

Morris and the selectors have grouped these 10 pairs into two teams to travel to Europe and compete in the Samsung Super League Nations Cups. The final five members of the WEG team will be named once those competitions are over.
Team A consists of Madden/Authentic, Ward/Sapphire, Engle/Hidden Creek’s Wapino, Kraut/Miss Indpendent and Welles/Armani. They will compete at the CSIO La Baule (France) on May 4-7, and the CSIO Aachen (Germany) on May 17-21.
Team B will be Engle/Quervo Gold, Hough/Casadora, Ashe/Neuville, McCrea/Promised Land and King/Tarco. They’ll compete at the CSIO Rome (Italy) on May 25-28, the CSIO Lucerne (Switzerland) on June 1-4, and the CSIO Rotterdam (the Netherlands) on June 22-25.
