Officials in Gothenburg, Sweden, announced on Friday that the city would bid to host the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games. The first WEG was held in Sweden in 1990.
Göteborg & Co. and Got Event, the city’s official event companies, will present their plans for the WEG, with support from the Swedish Equestrian Federation.

In March, city officials from Wellington, Fla., announced their plans to bid for the 2018 Games. Equestrian Sport Productions will present Wellington’s bid. Equestrian Sport Productions owns the 150-acre Palm Beach International Equestrian Center, where the WEG would be held.
Lexington, Ky., is the host of this year’s WEG. The 2014 Games will be held in Normandy, France.
