Salinero Sustains Minor Wither Injury

Anky van Grunsven's double Olympic gold medal winning horse, Salinero, injured his withers and will receive a three-week respite while he heals, reports EuroDressage.com.

Salinero most likely was cast in his stall at night. In the morning he had significant swelling on one side of his withers. Van Grunsven’s veterinarian determined that the capsule around the protrusions of the vertebrae near the withers was damaged.

The injury is not considered serious, and Salinero should be back to work once a saddle can be comfortably placed on him.
