Benvolio, a popular Hanoverian stallion by Bonjour, died in November at Cornell University (N.Y.). He was 24.

Benvolio was the Hanoverian Young Horse Champion in 1987 in Germany, and in 1988, he returned to Hamilton Farm in South Hamilton, Mass., and began a highly successful show career in the United States. He competed from training level through Prix St. Georges before his show career prematurely ended due to an injury.

With his extraordinary movement and incredible temperament, however, Benvolio proved himself through his outstanding offspring.  An approved breeding stallion with Oldenburg Horse Breeders Society and the Oldenburg Registry of North America, Benvolio (Bonjour—Poesie, Pokal) has produced many premium foals that have had successful sport horse careers.

Hamilton Farm graciously donated Benvolio to Cornell University in 1992 for use in their warmblood breeding program.  Benvolio immediately took over and became a favorite in every way. His loving nature and personality won the approval of all who got to meet him.

He produced quality foals with movement, outstanding temperaments and eye appeal.
